Amalinha`s Mac Donalds

Amalia was taken into a retirement home due to schizophrenia in 1993. She is an artist who atended Art schools in Sao Paulo during the Sixties and early seventies. She is the author of hundreds of oil paintings, collages, cinema screenplays, photograph essays, crayon on canvas paintings, drawings and philosophical essays. Some pieces of her work are saved at relatives´homes, as she granted few with her art.

During an existencial crisis in 1984 she burned (in an indoor bedroom bonfire) all her twenty years artistic production, after manualy chopping each work in almosty microscropic detail for days, as a way to protest against the injust production relations people in this world were forced into by unequal chances of expression, according to her own words.

In her sixteen years exile in the retirement home she has produced hundreds of notebooks with personal letters to an infinity of addressees (almost always singing them as someone else than herself) in a way she is the only one available to interprete. She has also made hundreds of clothing fashion designs which pervade her letters to whoever.
